Foxie Roxie Designs

A short time ago, the nicest woman came into picky girl, donned in bright colors and one amazing headband. A couple weeks later...
We're selling her goodies!

Possibly the sweetest designer to exist, Raquel Redmond, owner and designer of Foxie Roxie Designs, grew up in a small town in north-eastern Iowa. At age 8 her mother, Roxanne, began teaching her stitching skills and all the details in making art through fashion. Those skills were mostly used for making Barbie and Ken doll clothes at that time, but from there her love for creating and designing quickly progressed. Her father was always very artistic and creative as well. He can construct, build, draw, or master any project you throw at him. Raquel, being very observant of him as a child, learned a lot through his eyes. Foxie Roxie Designs originated in February of 09' in Hollywood, California. At that time it was only the one-of-a-kind head pieces. From there, the line expanded into clothing and accessories (including the most incredible earrings.) picky girl carries some of everything! For more photos of Foxie Roxie items at the store head over to Facebook.
If you are a vibrant woman with a bold, daring style who LOVES having fun with clothing, you HAVE to see Foxie Roxie Designs in person, they are extraordinary!

See you soon,

Equestrian Adoration

Feminine. Sleek. Regal. These are words that come to our mind when we think equestrian. With our breeches, tall boots and leather accessories, an equestrian style has bubbled over into our closets.

While perusing over pictures from Paris Fashion Week, we got lost in the Hermes Spring '11 Collection. No one does equestrian better than this legend. Filled with leather harnesses, belts, corsets and hats, our hearts overflow.

Love the runway look but not sure how to sport it?
Step 1: Pair an ultra feminine blouse with sleek breeches.
Sept 2: Drown yourself with comfort in an oversized cardy for the fall and winter.
Step 3: Accessorize with gorgeous leather embellishments: black gloves, a double-wrap belt, J.Shoes boots, and our fav pair of earrings from House of Harlow. (Boots now at picky girl and earrings soon available!)
And Numero 4: Our MUST HAVE fall purse- The Saddlery Bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs. With an equestrian flavor, this is the perfect sized purse to top off this incredible look.

This trend is much more of a lifestyle than a three month fashion craze. Not to mention, breeches are super comfy and a perfect pant when denim sounds like a pain and leggings, too relaxed.
Our other perfect pair of J. Shoes with an equestrian vibe!
*P.S. Reem Acra is now designing equestrian wear for the FEI World Cup Dressage!

We LOVE supporting local businesses. Today, at picky girl, the sweetest floral designer, Alex Lehr, owner of Thistle, brought us the MOST original and gorgeous flower arrangement we've ever seen. We've all been obsessed with moss lately, and it was as if the adorable Alex read our minds as she included moss in her artistic arrangement.
Isn't it PERFECTION?

Thistle does a wide array of events ranging from weddings and parties to weekly arrangements for businesses.

picky girl Named "Best Of" by Minnesota Monthly

We had a blast last night at the "Best Of" party put on by Minnesota Monthly. We want to thank Minnesota Monthly for naming us Best Women's Boutique in the Twin Cities and for their continued support! If you didn't get a chance to read the very nice article by the oh-so-cute Fashion Editor, Katie Dohman, here's what it said...

"Thank you, Elizabeth Varghese, for being the picky owner. Thank you for opening up shop on Grand Avenue, and for topping yourself every year. Thank you for showcasing local design talent- and not just one token designer. Thank you for maintaining such a well-edited mix, and for showing us what our closet should look like. Thank you for considering price, but not sacrificing quality. And most important, thank you for always being honest when we step out of the dressing room and ask for your opinion."

We thank YOU, Minnesota Monthly, for being so garsh darn sweet, putting on a great party and producing a killer magazine time and time again.
