Nail Files

As much as I love painted nails...I hate that after only a few days the chipping begins, and the fading follows...only to have to start the entire process over again! Who has this kind of time? Not me!
So, when Details Style Lab introduced the amazing OPI Axxium manicure I headed straight over...and yes the love affair has begun! Anything that can save me time is a good thing...and this is a VERY good thing ; )
I justed received an Axxium manicure from Crystal at  Details Style Lab  it  always lasts me at least 14 days, but it depends on your body chemistry... I tend to have drier nails so maybe that helps...They say it typically last 10-14 days.

Flax seed and Fashion

I know your probably thinking..why am I writing about Food?
Here is the deal...along with being a lover of fashion, I am a huge lover of good food. So, I thought I would switch it up a bit.
I have been frequenting Ecopolitan in Mpls for the last few years and figured it was about time to spread the word. If you have not already heard of this "Raw" food restaurant on Lyndale, today is the day.
Lets keep this simple just like the fantastic food at Ecopolitan. Yes..its raw, 100% Organic and Vegan, but most importantly DELICIOUS and good for you!
I started off the night with the cashew cheese log with flax crackers..so delish I can't get enough of these crackers, good thing you can buy them back in their deli!

Main course: Flax seed Tostada, a half order was plenty for me and spiced perfectly. YUM!

  1. Dessert: Coconut Creme Pie, plenty for 2 to share!

I suggest you grab your bestie, hit up the patio, order some great food, organic wine and ENJOY!
Cheers!

The Oscars

Like the majority of America, we were glued to our television last night watching the Oscars. Overall, it seems that the women were not taking much risks with their dresses this year. But there were some that stood out among the rest.

Honorable Mentions-
Mila Kunis wore a gorgeous lavender Elie Saab Haute Couture gown. As much as we are in love with this dress, we wanted to see her in a form fitting gown with slicked back hair.
There is no denying how stunning Michelle Williams looked in this Chanel gown. We just wish she would have taken a bigger risk as we've seen this gown, numerous times. We loved her short pixie bleached hair with dark brows though.
Amy Adams wore a beautiful navy L'Wren Scott gown. Why she decided to cover up that gorgeous neckline we don't know.
Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning in this red Calvin Klein dress. Even though clean and simple is "in" right now, we wish she would have worn one big glamorous necklace or earrings- it's the Oscars!

Favorites-
Although we're not a huge fan of Celine Dion, we must admit she was stunning on the red carpet. Dressed in a beautiful silver lame Giorgio Armani Prive gown with a stunning necklace, she made our best dressed list.
Camila Alves looked incredible in Kaufman Franco. The classic cut and deep neckline of this dress made us swoon!
Gwyneth Paltrow was perfect on the red carpet. Her long blonde smooth locks accented this Calvin Klein dress to a tee. She looked fresh and modern.
Cate Blanchett was unbelievable in her Givenchy's spring collection. The armor like bodice, the lavender and mustard yellow and the stunning back was the risk we were looking for on the red carpet. Cate Blanchett pulled this off flawlessly.

BEST DRESSED:
Rhea Durham, another risk taker, wore a red, cream and gold gown by Naeem Khan. We loved the flowing red bottom half with a more structured gold adorned top. It was unique and beautiful and easily won our best dressed vote for the evening.

Now that Distortion has come and gone, our intern, Heather King, has left us breathless. Her line, filled with nudes, sheers, camels and zippers has surpassed our expectations. The modern femininity mixed with sheer glamour moved us to tears as we watched Heather's senior line grace the runway.
Heather, we are so proud of you and beyond thrilled to see where your talent and passion leads you. The possibilities are definitely limitless.

The Little Black Dress Revisited

The Little Black Dress.

Just when we think it couldn't possibly get any colder, it does. This time of year can get pretty dreary around these parts.  This weekend, instead of burying yourself in blankets on the couch kick your heels up about town and bring out your favorite and timeless, little black dress. Here's a look at our favorite black dresses and some of the iconic women who wore them.
Coco Chanel 1920. Creator of- The Little Black Dress.
1928- Joan Bennetin in a flapper dress with cloche hat. LOVE.
1930- renowned entertainer Josephine Baker in a feather adorned dress. Gorgeous!
1939- Duchess of Windsor in her meticulously tailored dress.
1940's- Ava Gardner in her silky sensuous dress.
1951- Possibly the best cocktail dress of all time. We adore the structured detail of this dress!
1951- A Dior sheath. The shape which dominated the 50's.
1956- Marilyn Monroe wearing a wool crepe Galanos cocktail dress with bare chiffon midriff
1960- Audrey Hepburn. Enough said.
1965- Sophia Lauren accessorizing her black dress with leopard!
1970- Jackie Kennedy. A staple in the closet which is Iconic Women.
1981- Princess Diana and the dress she wore when announced as Prince Charles fiance.
1998- Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in an elegant and simple strapless.
2009- Michelle Obama in dress by Azzedine Alaia.

Have a great weekend and have fun in your perfect black dress despite the frigid weather!

Golden Globes Glam

Last night, our mouths were constantly watering at all the perfect gowns we saw walk across the stage at the Golden Globes. The peaches, the sequins and the greens were more eye catching than James Franco and Ryan Gosling (although, who are we kidding, each peek we got at them felt like a minute of romance.)   Here are the ladies that blew us away!

Jayma Mays, the adorable guidance counselor from Glee, wearing a sparkly black art-deco style gown by Alberta Ferretti, Judith Leiber clutch, Neil Lane jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes. Stunning.
Dianna Arrgon from Glee dressed in J Mendel with gorgeous age appropriate hair. Dianna did this soft champagne color right!
Melissa Leo won Best Supporting Actress for The Fighter! We can't find who she is wearing but she wears this breathtaking black sequin gown perfectly. She is carrying a Swarovski clutch.
Natalie Portman won best actress for Black Swan. Hands down the best acting she has done. We LOVE her Viktor and Rolph dress, however, the 1990's french twist, necklace and clutch ruined the look!
Heather Morris from Glee wearing a Lorena Sarbu beaded gown which is simply gorgeous. Also, this is the way to wear your hair up! Simple, loose and sexy.
January Jones from Mad Men, we love you. It's easy to tell why January is the current face of Versace. Donned in this red Versace dress, she is perfection.
Naya Rivera from Glee with Neil Lane jewelry and a Douglas Hannant pale pink strapless column gown with rosette detailing, we would have liked to see a little more sparkle...but she was stunning!
Angelina Jolie wearing the most beautiful emerald color Swarovski crystal embellished Atelier Versace gown. Love the full length sleeves and shoulder detail.

Our BEST DRESSED Star of the night:
EMMA STONE.
Emma, from Easy A and the upcoming reboot of Spiderman (yes, again) was styled perfectly with her Calvin Klein pale pink dress and Van Cleep and Arpels bow ring. We love her fresh, modern blonde hair and the stunning simplicity of her ensemble. She won our vote, with her classic and timeless look.

Hope you enjoyed watching the Globes!
